JB’s Violin Philosophy

Violin and viola should be FUN!

If it isn’t fun, then why bother? Learning a musical instrument can feel awkward and sometimes downright frustrating. It really helps to have a teacher that understands how to make the journey playful and wants you to feel confident and relaxed while you’re learning. My philosophy is that it’s never to late to learn the violin—I teach ages 8 and up, all levels, and even adult beginners.

How do I make it fun?

I’ll teach you the fundamentals without focusing on technical mumbo jumbo, allowing you to play music as soon as you can. My teaching focuses on playing music—not just extended efforts in preparation to play music. As you learn to play beautiful music in a variety styles, you will discover which ones are your favorites. Then I will introduce additional tunes in the styles you like. Playing real music is fun, and playing music you love is priceless.
